If you have been living in the work-at-home world for any period of time, you likely have a PayPal account. If not, you will soon. PayPal is a popular method of payment for online jobs.

What has made PayPal so popular among both consumers and merchants, or clients and contractors, in this case, is that it is secure, allows for international payments and payments can be received almost instantaneously. When someone sends you a payment it arrives in your PayPal account within minutes compared to days when receiving an ACH deposit in your checking account or check by mail.

Because PayPal offers a debit card to customers, many work-at-home agents prefer this payment method as they can receive payment from an employer and immediately use those funds to pay their bills online or head out to do their grocery shopping. They don’t have to wait for funds to clear before they can be used as can occasionally happen when depositing a check.

Online Jobs That Pay By PayPal

Babbletype hires transcriptionists, translators and proofreaders. Jobs must be claimed by 4pm Eastern each day and are due by 4pm Eastern the next. Payment is weekly.

BlogMutt hires freelance writers. They pay weekly for all articles purchased by a client. The site states their current acceptance rate is 90%.

Clickworker is a crowdsourcing site. Their workload includes writing, translating, research and more. The minimum for payout is $5.

Field Agent is an app that will pay you for completing little tasks around town. You may be checking a store for a display or price on an item. You can get paid by PayPal or Dwolla.

Fiverr is a popular platform for offering services. You can create your own Gigs to have available for sale. As the name suggests, Gigs are available to purchase starting at $5 though you can offer upsells to increase your earnings. You do need to wait 14 days between completing a Gig to being able to withdraw your earnings by PayPal. There are fees associated with these transactions.

GigWalk is very similar to Field Agent.

GoTranscript hires transcribers with no experience. They pay weekly by PayPal or Payoneer. This company hires internationally.

Humanatic hires people to review calls. You can request payment weekly once your account hits $10. Payments are made on Mondays and Tuesdays. The pay rate is extremely low. The sites gives you a ballpark of earning $1 to $4.50 per hour!

Ibotta is one of my favorite smartphone apps of all time. The company allows you to earn cash back on your grocery purchases and more. Opinion Outpost is a legit paid survey panel and one that pays by PayPal.

PineCone Research is one of the most highly coveted survey panels. They don’t always have openings for everyone. At the time of writing this post they are looking for males over the age of 18 in the U.S. If you can get a spot, however, you can expect to earn about $3 per survey. You will receive your first payment by check but can switch to PayPal after that.

Rev.com hires transcriptionists, translators and captioners. They pay weekly for all work completed.

Scribie hires freelance transcriptionists. You will need a verified PayPal account – one linked to a bank account or credit card. You can request payment anytime after funds hit your account.

SigTrack processes voter registrations and petition signatures. Your pay includes a base rate minus a penalty for errors. The company rarely has openings. They highly recommend a dual monitor setup if you want to make anywhere near a decent wage.

Swagbucks is another awesome way to earn extra cash. You can earn SB, or Swagbucks, by completing tasks like surveys, watching videos, printing coupons and more. You can redeem your SB for gift cards to your favorite merchants or PayPal cash. When you sign up and earn 300 SB total before 2/1/17. You’ll get a $3 (300 SB) bonus for it!

Textbroker contracts freelance writers. Pay rates are based on type of order, quality and experience on Textbroker platform. A two-star writer can expect to earn around $7 for a 1,000-word article.

Userlytics pays contractors for “website testing,” or providing feedback on customer websites. Testers earn $5 to $50 per test and are paid every two weeks.

Usertesting isn’t consistent work but it is a fan favorite. You will earn $10 for each website you provide feedback for. Payment is made 7 days after completing a test.

Because PayPal is so popular, it is the most common method of receiving payment by online service providers such as virtual assistants, freelance writers and more. Clients contracting freelancers previously are likely used to the request and will be happy to pay you this way.

How to Open a PayPal Account

Opening a PayPal account is pretty painless. 

1. Go to the PayPal website and click Sign Up at the top of the page.
2. You will need to select Personal or Business Account. If you are not looking to collect payments through your website, a Personal Account should be fine for now. You can still send and receive money. And, you can always change your account over to a Business Account now the road if needed.
3. Enter your email address, create a password, and click Continue.
4. Enter the required information and click Agree and Create Account.
5. Choose to link your bank account or credit/debit card, enter the details, and click Continue.
6. In a few minutes, check your email for a message from PayPal.
7. Click the link in the email to confirm your email address.
8. Enter your password, then click Confirm.

To open a Personal account, you just need to provide your first and last name, address, phone number, and email address.

After you sign up for an account, you can start receiving money right away. To use the funds in your account, you can transfer them to your bank account (you will need to add one first). A bank transfer usually takes about 1 to 5 business days. Or, you can request a PayPal Debit Card and have your funds available to use right away. PayPal Debit Cards can be used almost anywhere just like a normal debit card from your bank.
